The last time I posted about Payton, it was to tell about her desire to wear many hats as an adult, and I was so proud of my someday doctor/mommy to-be. Well, her plans seem to have changed.
I picked Payton up from school a few days ago and we had the following conversation.
Payton: Mommy, I don't wanna be a worker when I grow up
Me: What do you mean, a worker?
Payton: Like building roads and houses, it takes too long, it's like two years and the roads not done yet.
Me: Uhm, okay, I thought you were going to be a doctor?
Payton: No, I can't be a doctor because then I'll get sick all of the time.
Me: Hum, well, what are you going to be?
Payton: I don't know...
5 minutes later we're still driving...
Payton: Mommy, I'm gonna do THAT, the sign guy!!!!
Me: WHAT??!!!?? The guy on the side of the road holding the sign??
Payton: YEAH!
Me: Honey, I think you can probably do more than hold a sign when you grow up.
Payton: Yeah, but I can do that too.
What happened in a few days? How did we go from doctor to sign guy? Later on she did go on to tell me that she might sell houses. There's still hope!

Parker at her Prime
I'm sitting at my desk right now, which is in the loft of our house, the staircase and Parker's bedroom door are about 6 and 9 feet behind me. I thought Parker was downstairs watching Scooby Do, while I'm here working at my desk. But a few minutes ago I heard her door shut, I assumed the wind had blown it, but then I heard some clicking noise, so I went to investigate. Upon reaching for the handle, I discovered something was amiss, it was locked. Through the door I asked "Parker, are you in there?" "Yes, I'm going to sleep!" Somethings not right here, so I unlocked the door to find her in her bed, wrapping something up in her blankie, under her comforter. I ask again, she sticks to her guns, "I'm going to sleep!" So I pull up the comforter, and pull back the blankie to discover a half eaten cookie. The thief and liar strikes again!

When I Grow Up
I was dropping Payton off at school a few days ago and from the back seat Payton asked, "When I grow up, can I be more than one thing?" Without hesitation I told her "Of course, you can be anything you want to be honey! What do you want to be?" She replied, "So, can I be like a doctor and a mommy?"
